In Memory of Coach Chen Tsung-Ming|That Silhouette Forever Etched in Our Hearts

By Dr. C.Y. Lu | 2025-07-11
In front of the familiar Table 3, Coach Chen Cong-Ming’s figure always stood firm and composed.
His forehand combinations—three-ball, five-ball attacks—were executed with unyielding precision. His agile footwork and all-around mastery made every stroke deliberate and decisive. On court, he was a perennial winner, the unshakable pillar of our club.
Now, with his sudden passing, his warm voice and smile still echo vividly, but the chance to meet again has been lost forever. Our hearts are filled with grief.
Coach Chen was humble yet confident, embodying both skill and virtue. He never pulled rank or clung to seniority, instead leading by example. He rarely reproached with words, but when he spoke, his insights struck home. On the court, he was a rigorous opponent and a gracious mentor. Off the court, he was gentle yet resolute—a model for us all.
Anyone who has trained or played with Coach Chen knows that his influence extended beyond techniques; he inspired a mindset and a spirit—respect for opponents, respect for oneself, and respect for the beloved sport of table tennis.
Coach often said: “A good match isn’t about scoring points, but about cherishing the chance to grow with your fellow players.”
He lived that message with every action: attitude determines altitude, and character is the truest victory.
Today, the lights above Table 3 still shine. The sound of balls still echoes. Yet that familiar silhouette is no longer with us.
May our dear coach journey well—hitting clean shots and sharp angles in another world.
Your legacy remains in our hearts, forever shining, never fading.
